Citizen Science Summer Undergraduate Internship STEM and Social Science Majors
Through a grant from the National Science Foundation (NSF) - Coastlines and People (CoPe), the Department of Environmental Sciences and Technology at Austin Community College (ACC) will hire five UT undergraduate research assistants (URA) to develop and implement a citizen science program.
Dates: May 25 - July 10, 2020
Must be a U.S. citizen, U.S. national, or permanent resident of the United States
Must have an overall GPA of at least 3.3
Must have successfully completed 2 years of course work including a physical science or social science course
URA will :
with a group of ACC students
assisting in planning and implementing a research project related to the impacts of Hurricane Harvey
be responsible for managing the assigned research group and completing the project on time
work under the guidance of Dr. Miller, Department of Petroleum and Geosystems Engineering and three geoscience faculty at ACC including Prof. Kusali Gamage.
Terms of Internship:
Total of 5 stipend-supported positions are available for Summer 2020
Stipend per student is $2,500
Students must be available to work Tuesdays and Thursdays 9 am - 4 pm at the ACC Highland Campus from May 26 - July 10, 2020
Students are required to attend two field trips to Port Aransas
Students are required to attend and actively participate in all course related work including weekly group meetings and field trips.
